Kohn and Peagogy

Though-out both Kohn's diagram and the video something very important has come up in what they where both writing about and to which was relating to the generation of students or the culture of students they are given. Classrooms that are bright and colorful are great but if there isn't a sign that you care about your students then they are not going to favor or even like you as a teacher. As we have seen and talked about in this course students may not be able to have the energy to want to come to school everyday and some, they depend on the sanctity of a classroom. Though having a respected ideals and rules are important, but it is also important to meet students where they are at. This could be in any regard but for this example more specifically how adding students interests and who they are too the classroom. Making assignments about maybe a popular movie, artist, holiday, video game, content creator, etc.

In a music setting this could mean a world of things. I know personally I am in the collegiate level wind ensemble down at Roger Williams University and we are playing an entire repertoire of music all categorized from different popular older video games like Tetris and Mario Brothers. Now this could be relating it to different songs that are popular in the generation of students you have in your classroom. This could also be assigning students the creative liberties of writing there own songs in whatever genre they want. Or you can do a whole unit of history on different African American, LGBTQ+ or Women composers who should be more notarized for their works and contributions to music.

  1. I also agree that students work should be displayed because if a teacher just has her rules or instructions of how to be in a class it can be stressful for a student. If work is shown then students get to admire what they did and even work harder to want others to admire their work.
