Woke Kindergarten

   I loved listening to the video provided on Woke Kindergarten, Woke Read Aloud: They, she, he ABC's. This video is almost healing because of how sweet the narrator Ki is when it comes to all the children in the book. They explain the idea of gender identity, transgenderism, and self-expression very well. In the conservative media, there is this idea that in order to explain transgenderism it takes this idea of almost sexualization because of the physiological idea of anatomy. This idea is disgusting because it not only takes the idea of what a person is and makes it all about the sexualization of the person and not about what the individuals go through, experience, and the process it takes to make themselves feel free. Often times with people who are transgender have a very hard time in schools and are the ones who get bullied before they realize their identity. When they do transition they often get even more backlash trying to become the person they are. The world if full of hate and people of the Christian religion will try to say that this isn't what God intended. As a Catholic who uses any pronouns They them, she her, he him, people are made in the likeness and image of God. You were made to be YOU don't let anyone tell you other wise. The people who drag you down do not know what is in the best interest of you and your friends and family. What cannot hurt you should not be of your discursion or concern. 

  I am a more feminine presenting person, this is partly me wanting very long hair but also my own idea of what I want to look like. With the new political state of the US, and as briefly talked about in class how I have not once thought about detransitioning until Trump was reelected into office. I am not going to detransition unless he starts passing the bills that the Project 2025 correspond to. To others you may look at me and wonder how someone who's already feminine going to do that? Well it isn't as easy as it looks. I'd have to let my natural hair grow back because I'm naturally blonde, I would have to get a new wardrobe because I wear a lot of androgynous clothing that is a lot of dark colors, I would not be able to do makeup I would normally do and would have to do pretty soft feminine makeup. That is not me. Even my father who is a boomer in his 60s and is a republican knows and accepts that I am not feminine and will call me his son and will call me his alternative child. 

  The video does a very good job at explaining the idea of neopronouns. Neopronouns are pronouns that do not fit on the typical gender binary we know as Feminine -> androgynous -> Masculine. I am so glad that they represented this in the video because neopronouns are often used by neurodiverse individuals. Autism/ADHD/AUDHD often cause issues with self identity and expression and leaves people feeling disconnected with their bodies. Often times you will find a person who is trans / queer connected to the neurodivergent community. This connects back to the reading from Hehir and Malbrook and how much more we should not make fun of these people. Notice online it is never a mentally disabled person who is made fun of, or a high functioning transgender person, but it is always the mentally disabled transgender people who get targeted the most. Just saying.
